on 4095.2 metres

on the summit of Mount Kinabalu with Thorsten, Nadia & Nora...there were 8 of us but the other 4 were already on the way down when we took that pic....

under estimating the mountain and over estimating ourselves, we chose the Mesilau trail (the tougher and longer but more scenic trail) instead of the Timpohon trail....it was a tough climb but no regrets whatsover.....of course, we were cursing and swearing and wondering why we had nothing better to do on a Sunday morning....but once u reach the summit and return to base, all pain is nearly forgotten....i'm using "nearly" cos for the next 3 days, u are reminded of the pain everytime u move a muscle...

anyways, this new activity is quite addictive and planning to do The Pinnacles at Mulu, Sarawak, Malaysia.....anyone crazy enough to join me and my mountaineering mates?.....:-p

death by iced chocolate

when you have a drink called "death by iced chocolate" in a pint glass together with a brownie covered with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream that looks like the above - you would need to swim at least 50 laps come rain or shine thereafter...hence the question - "would you?"...

recipe to keep & stay warm this Christmas

drinking loads of hot wine - for those who are going "what the heck is hot wine?" here is the recipe:-

one pint of red or white wine
2 tablespoons of sugar
piece of lemon or orange rind
small stick of cinnamon
- first of all you make the wine hot (not more than 70C°) and then put in the sugar, lemon/orange and cinnamon - and if you like, you can add one or two cloves in it.
and finally - you are ready to go!
warning - drinking hot wine will want to make you sit inside a fridge cos it really really really warms you up!!! - so i have been told...

"Bates Motel" in Brestagi

yes, the inside is actually much worse than the outside! Nadia & i had no choice but to stay here cos everything else was full as it was Good Friday and Easter Sunday weekend. the toilet was hardly working & there wasn't much water coming out of the sink tap. a filthy looking hose was suppose to be a substitute for a shower. most of the lights in the room wasn't working including the one in the bathroom/toilet. i can now proudly say "i know how it feels to kinda have a shower in a dark dingy bathroom". of course, the television was out of order as well! so what did Nadia & i do to keep ourselves occupied till we fell asleep? talked about boys! when i narrated this incident to a guy friend of mine, he said if Nadia & i were 2 blokes, we would be in the nearest pub drinking ourselves silly!

only in India

this was taken early morning in the streets of Chennai. a group of men off to market to sell their catch. now, imagine if their driver had suddenly slammed the brakes really very hard - we would be splattered with fishes from the Bay of Bengal...it would be raining fish, Hallelujah!

i drove a tractor in Germany

and away i went...

believe it or not, i drove this tractor around a lovely village called Balingen in Germany. with the help of Marc, Petes's brother-in-law, i drove it! it was fun and exhilirating. does this mean i now qualify to be a farmer's wife?
we got Marc's children, Tia & Sem, after they finished kindergarten and they sat at the back...in that blue square wooden thingy...
